Battery Scientist
CARLSBAD, CA
American Lithium Energy in the greater San Diego area is looking for a highly motivated battery scientist/engineer to support the company’s technology development and battery manufacturing efforts. The preferred candidate must have a strong background in chemistry, or material science or engineering, and must have hands-on experience working with Li-ion and next generation cell technology.
The primary duties include supporting and developing electrode formulation through cell testing and targeted experiments, designing new experiments, and establishing procedures on optimization of cathodes, anodes, electrolytes, and separator for Lithium-Ion batteries by extending battery capacity, power, life, safety and charge performance. This position will also lead a group of technicians on cell production and will require close collaboration with the engineers in addition to external partners and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and optimize cathode/anode composites to meet R&D objectives

Build cells and conduct cell testing, with a focus on rigor, repeatability, and statistical analyses in an industrial setting

Effectively communicate procedures, results, and uncertainties, in written documents and in-person meetings
-
Source, characterize, and evaluate materials from various suppliers
-
Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product life cycle, and work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, and Production to take battery product designs and changes from initial concept through prototype development and into full production

Contribute to technical writing of grants, patents, and reports

Perform other functions as required supporting R&D and production
Qualifications
-
PHD in chemistry, or material science, or engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience in lithium-ion RD and/or manufacturing
-
M.S. with 5+ years of experience in lithium-ion RD and/or manufacturing
-
B. S with 10+ years of experience in lithium-ion RD and/or manufacturing
-
Project management experience a plus

Mechanical Engineer
CARLSBAD, CA
The Mechanical Engineer will carry out various kinds of tasks related to Li ion battery machines and production equipment, work closely with cell assembly technicians and battery scientist, write the operation procedures, make drawings, design fixtures, improve the processing efficiency, carry out the safety training on the regular basis, and serve as team member for quality control system AS 9100D.

Duties and responsibilities

Install and maintain machines and equipment applying engineering principles and/or according to the manuals

Generate and update the operation and maintenance manuals for Li ion battery production equipment

Diagnose and repair machines and production equipment

Qualifications

Electrical Engineer
CARLSBAD, CA
The electrical Engineer will work with mechanical engineers to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and outputs through equipment installation, design, product testing, and equipment repair and maintenance. You will need to balance this sustaining activity with concurrent Manufacturing and Quality initiatives. This is a hands-on position requiring machine installation, testing, vendor facing communications, and design work with focus on providing support for electrical work of the company's daily operation.

Manufacturing Quality Control Engineer

The role of the Manufacturing QC engineer is to manage and maintain the company's quality system and standards. Knowledge of industry and governmental quality regulations is needed to conduct activities involving quality control, assurance and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. This personnel will oversee and manage design transfer and process transfer activities, conduct internal audits, review quality data according to existing documents and procedures, and initiate corrective actions as needed. In addition, this role will champion continuous improvement throughout the organization. Acute attention to detail and regular communication with the design team and production team are a must.
Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee and manage design transfer and process transfer activities for lithium-ion battery manufacturing

Provide engineering support and lead troubleshooting activities on the production line. Perform systematic and documented Root Cause Analyses for failures and implement Corrective Actions.

Perform analysis to understand and improve processes, reduce failures, and improve yields.

Participate in design reviews and pre-validation assessments of new products and processes, and ensure the process has adequate and appropriate process controls and documentations.

Work with Product Development team to ensure all aspects of Design Transfer activities are being met and comply with the requirements of the quality management system and external regulatory agencies

Ensure that all equipment, instrumentation, and software is maintained in a validated state. Ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements.

Review proposed changes by performing risk assessments, providing guidance, support, and assessing the adequacy of verification and validations and DHF documents

Supply Chain Manager

This position will oversee the Procurement and Logistics Departments to ensure optimization of American Lithium Energy Corp’s supply chain. This role will be responsible for overseeing the departments’ overall supply chain strategies, including vendor and supplier sourcing, procurement of raw materials, contract negotiation, reducing costs, developing and monitoring KPI’s, and managing department budgets.
